Frankfurt, Polizeikasperstraße – the location couldn't have been better: Right behind the Frankfurt police headquarters, an SUV literally took off – on the hook of MB Inkasso & Investigation GmbH. But what sounds like a scene from an action movie is the result of hard facts and clever research.

In order:
A Frankfurt car dealership had leased a stylish SUV. The customer? Friendly, convincing – and apparently a bit creative in his statements about his professional situation. Although he introduced himself as employed managing director presented to his own company, the leasing company, upon closer examination, found this insufficient. Background: A salaried managing director is not automatically treated the same as a traditional employee – this can make a significant difference, especially during credit checks. Result: Contract canceled.

The problem? The car had already been delivered – but the lessee suddenly disappeared. He was repeatedly asked to either return the car or pay the purchase price. But instead of an understanding, he received a letter from a lawyer saying they wanted to "settle the matter in court." Understandable in theory – but in practice, it takes a good six months in the district court. Our dealership customer didn't want to sit by and watch his SUV drive around for that long.

So plan B: us.

Around 2:30 p.m., the call came: "Find and retrieve, please." Two of our employees immediately responded. They checked the underground parking garage, scanned side streets—and voilà: About two hours later, the object of desire was parked in a particularly intriguing parking lot. Not just anywhere—but right in front of an office building full of police officers. Over 100 eyes watched as we took action.

Wheel clamps on, license plate off – and while some patrol car drivers irritably put down their coffee cups, the tow truck rolled in. Less than ten minutes later, the SUV was loaded up – and on its way straight back to the dealership.
